Did you learn anything about each other or yourselves while planning your wedding?

Jessica: We both kind of knew this, but it was reiterated that we handle stress very differently. I can get a bit overwhelmed, while Perry is much more calm, cool and collected and can think through situations and come up with a game plan.

Perry: Jess is a planner and very organized, she tends to do things more on the fly and in the moment while I strategically plan everything out step by step. It tends to be a good combination (most of the time)!

When planning your wedding, did you use any specific resources for ideas and/or inspiration?

Jessica: Pinterest all the way! I had idea boards for everything from the moment we got engaged: flowers, dress, bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen outfits, lighting, etc. I also actually did a lot of research on the ILS site to check out different weddings and got inspiration from there. Those were really helpful because they tag the vendors for everything, so if I loved something specifically, I reached out to those vendors to try to work with them.

Did anything surprise you?

Both: The weather! For days before the wedding, it was very iffy (thunderstorms, rain, no rain, cloudy, etc.). The day turned out to be absolutely perfect in every way, especially the weather and the beautiful picture-perfect sunset we got. Thanks to ILS for capturing those moments so perfectly.

Do you have advice for brides- and grooms-to-be?

Both: It’s so easy to stress out over everything, but try your best to enjoy every minute of the planning and making decisions together, because in the end it’s about the two of you, your future together and most of all, throwing a fun party! Also, take the time on the day to soak it all in and enjoy every minute, because before you know it, it’s over! Just like that!

Is there a moment from your day that stands out the most?

Both: At the reception when we were introduced by the band and went out for our first dance. We walked into the room and almost everyone was out on the dance floor waiting for us and cheering the entire time we danced. It was just so heartwarming and amazing to see so many of the people we love in one place on the most important day of our lives. It was like everything we planned for was made right in that moment and we wish we could freeze that moment forever. The pictures say it all!!

Jessica, what is the most valuable thing Perry has taught you?

Jessica: To be more confident in myself! And to try not to sweat the small stuff. Perry has made me a stronger person in so many ways.

Perry, what is the most valuable thing Jessica has taught you?

Perry: To be considerate of others. Jess has the best heart and is so thoughtful of others, putting their needs before her own.
