As the Northern Hemisphere was experiencing the chill of winter, we found ourselves flying around the world to a remote island in the Philippines where, by our standards, summer never ends. We were fortunate enough to be there thanks to Cheryl & Jeffrey, who went on a world-wide search to find their photographer for their wedding day – an honor that’s not lost on us! We are constantly humbled by the couples who hand the responsibility of capturing the most important day in their lives together, and this was no exception.
Cheryl & Jeffrey were married at Amanpulo Resort on Pamalican Island (i.e., total paradise). For their first look, Cheryl waited on the beach as Jeffery emerged from the jungle – feeling something like a scene from a James Bond movie. During the ceremony, the warm light from the setting sun on the soft, white sand and the clear, blue water was – as Ira describes it, “ridiculously perfect” – and just when we didn’t think it could get any better, a rainbow appeared in the sky… A rainbow!
More important than the setting, there were so many moving moments shared between the couple, their family and friends. One that really stood out was the parental blessing during the Chinese ceremony. While we don’t speak Mandarin, it was clear that it was very meaningful.
So much of this weekend will stick with us forever. It’s difficult to accurately express just how fortunate we feel to have been a part of this experience.
Thank you, Cheryl & Jeffrey, and many congratulations!
