Elizabeth & Ken, The Rainbow Room, NYC
Elizabeth and Ken’s special day had the essence of lighthearted fun. This was partially because the groom is a comedian and can nail a perfect George W. Bush impression – he had us cracking up all morning. But much of the credit goes to their little son, Jacob, whose presence throughout the day supplied a playful and youthful spirit. As Ken suited up for his big day, Jacob ran from room to room, driving his cars through the air. During the ceremony at the Rainbow Room, Jacob appropriately enjoyed a rainbow lollipop, keeping him happy as his parents exchanged vows.
Sidekick Events and Lewis Miller Design brought elements of the outdoors inside, as though Spring was blooming in the center of the Rainbow Room. The chuppa, made to look like birch trees contained in translucent lucite, sat in the center of the room, and rows of white tulips and candles lined the wall. At the reception, tall vases bursting with cherry blossom branches were placed around the room. The centerpieces were pink perfection, brimming with roses, sweet peas and ranunculus.
We loved witnessing the special relationship Elizabeth and Ken brought to the day. Having the connection as parents before being bride and groom brought a unique element of closeness to their wedding day. This, coupled with the sprightly mood of the couple, made for a super fun party following the reception, full of laughter and dancing. As the night drew to a close, Elizabeth and Ken shared a sweet moment outside under the iconic NBC Studios sign. With big smiles on their faces, they waved as they hopped into a cab and sped off into the New York night.
President George W. Bush once said, “Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream.” Though we’re not entirely sure what that means, Elizabeth and Ken’s wedding day was a wonderful celebration of love and family. And, we’re pretty sure wings took dream, too.
