Sarah & Gary, Tribeca Rooftop, NYC
ILS: What did you do to personalize your wedding?
Sarah: Gary and I met at Syracuse University so it was important to include a few touches of SU throughout the day. We created a hashtag #sarahCUSEDgary and had decals of the hashtag and our ‘love map’ on the mirrors and in the elevators of our venue.
Making our guests comfortable and happy was very important to us. We provided those staying in a hotel with a New York City themed welcome box and all guests had their transportation needs taken care of. All favors, donut/candy bar bags and dancing shoes were personalized with our names and wedding date. We wanted our guests to have a true, one of a kind downtown New York experience.
ILS: If you had to choose a favorite moment to freeze in time, what would it be?
Sarah: Our first look is without a doubt the moment we would freeze in time on our wedding day. It was definitely the most emotional aspect of the day for both of us.
ILS: Did something special happen leading up to your wedding day?
Sarah: Watching wedding shows for as long as I can remember I never saw a dress I really loved. So when the time came to start thinking about my wedding dress I looked online and happened to stumble upon a dress by Kenneth Pool. Excited to try on that exact dress I went with my mom and grandmother to Saks for the designers trunk show in hopes it would be the dress. When we got there I was told that they didn’t have the dress, it was only shown on the runway, and impossible to get. Feeling very disappointed and discouraged I called the designers flagship store and got an appointment that same day in hopes I would hear something different.
Unfortunately, we heard the same thing. I tried on a few other dresses, but still had that dress in the back of my head. They located the sample at the design studio and I was told they could get it for me to try on the following week. I agreed reluctantly knowing it most likely wasn’t going to fit. A week later, with a little bit of luck and a whole lot of prayer, I tried it on and sure enough it fit like a glove! I fell in love and ended up purchasing the sample. I guess you can say the dress was made for me!
