What was on your wedding day wish list?

Jaime: To throw a great party! Tanner’s family and a lot of his friends were traveling from Canada. Some had never been to New York City before. I wanted everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves. We definitely accomplished this. Everyone is still talking about the wedding.

Tanner: I wanted everything to go smoothly and for Jaime to not be stressed. Which I can say happened. It was one of the best nights we have ever had and will remember forever.

What part of wedding planning did you most enjoy?

Jaime: The décor. I am a very visual person and wanted to create this enchanted garden. I loved choosing the flowers, the place settings, glassware, flat ware, etc. I love candles and knew I wanted tons during the ceremony and reception. Seeing how everything came together the night of was so special.

Tanner: The food and wine tasting! I told Jaime from the start that I wanted to be in charge of picking out the food menu, cocktails and wine for the wedding. Cocktail hour has always been our favorite part of a wedding.

Who or what did you find to be the most helpful during the planning process?

Jaime: Besides doing yoga every week and having my sisters and amazing bridesmaids to help, I would say my wedding planner of course! She always knew the right thing to say as well as being able to organize me. I tend to want to get everything done right away. No one ever realizes how much goes into planning a wedding until they do it. Having them there from the beginning until the actual day was very helpful.

Tanner: Jaime was the most helpful. She knows that I love to leave everything to the last minute so she created lists after lists of what I needed to do every month. I still managed leave everything I needed to do on my end until the last 3 months leading up to the wedding but she made it a lot easier for me.

When you think about your day, what are the moments that tend to come back to you most?

Jaime: There are so many! Our first look was very special, even though I was running behind schedule of course. To see him smile as soon as he saw me in my dress was everything to me. And then seeing Tanner standing at the alter when I started walking down with my father. I was so nervous for some reason. But as soon as I saw him standing there, crying, I knew that everything would be ok.

Tanner: Seeing Jaime walk down the aisle. Everything else seems to be a blur to me. I knew I was going to be emotional at my wedding but I did not expect to cry as soon as I saw her walking down towards me.

Would you do anything differently?

Jaime: When I look back and think about all the planning I laugh. Even knowing how stressful things got at times, I would not change a thing. I think it brought my family and Tanner’s family closer as well as us.

Tanner: I would make the entire wedding longer. More time to dance, more time to eat, drink and say hello to everyone. It went by so fast! It should have been an all-day event.

What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever received?

Jaime: Never stop dating each other. While date nights might need a bit more planning ahead of time, you need that time as a couple to reconnect, enjoy each other’s company and remind yourself how special your spouse is.

Tanner: Have Fun! Remember that it’s okay to be silly and to laugh. It’ll actually be pretty helpful when tough times come in life if you have someone who can always make you smile.

What advice would you give to a couple who are thinking about getting engaged?

Jaime: Do not wait too long to get married but still take time to enjoy being engaged. We were engaged for a little over a year. We waited three months until we started planning the wedding which gave us a year until the day.

Tanner: Try and enjoy your time planning and remember your fiancé is always right.
