How did you meet? What were your first impressions of each other?

Both: The first time we met was actually at a debate tournament in high school. We were debating against each other, but were later reintroduced by a mutual friend because we were applying to the same college. At this point it’s been such a long time that we don’t remember our first impressions of each other, but it probably had something to do with whether or not we thought the other was a formidable debate opponent.

What did planning a wedding teach you about your relationship?

Both: Patience is important! There were times when we did not agree, but ultimately communication and compromise is key – like any part of a relationship.

What was the inspiration behind your wedding?

Arielle: There was no “inspiration” per se, but I had hundreds of pictures saved on Pinterest of elements that I liked from different weddings. We knew we wanted the color scheme to be light, but pretty much every other design decision went to my mom. She had a pretty specific vision and has a great eye for design, which is neither of our strong suits.

What moment from your day do you hope never to forget?

Both: Being under the chuppah with our families was such a special moment! It still feels surreal to think about it now. We have both known our rabbi for our entire lives. He officiated both of our bar/bat mitzvahs so he knows us and our families very well, which made the ceremony that much more special.

Were there any surprises or things you didn’t expect?

Arielle: We definitely did not expect the day to go by so quickly! Everyone tells you beforehand that the day will fly by, but I don’t think we understood that until the next day when we were wondering where the time had gone.
