About Jason Walker

With a background working regularly for such renowned photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Paola Kudacki and Eric Ogden, Jason Walker brings a high fashion–inflected sensibility to the weddings he shoots solo or in tandem with his wife Rebecca. Despite such exposure to the rarified world of style, he manages to retain a down-to-earth sense of humor and distinctly southern charm that makes him a favorite of many of the world’s top models—and brides.

Raised in Brunswick, Georgia, on a coastal peninsula inhabited exclusively by extended family, Jason  developed an early appreciation for image making through his father’s avid documentation of their lives through Super 8 films and slideshows. Jason’s love for travel was triggered when at age 10 his parents announced that they were going to spend the next few years traveling abroad as itinerant missionaries, which led to time spent in Hawaii, Southeast Asia and Latin America. It was during a surf trip to Bali, Indonesia, at age 18 that Jason first developed an interest in experimenting with photography.

Marked by these early adventures, Jason chose to continue his international experience by studying at the University of the Nations, a unique college with campuses around the world. It was during his time studying in Lausanne, Switzerland, that he met his future wife Rebecca, who encouraged him to focus his wide-ranging artistic talents on photography. After marrying in 2002, Jason joined Rebecca in attending the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he studied filmmaking, printmaking and illustration along with his concentration in photography. In addition to shooting weddings with Rebecca, Jason honed his eye documenting Savannah’s lively music scene and the town’s impoverished neighborhoods in images inspired by Eugene Richards’ Dorchester Days.

Since relocating to New York in 2006, Jason has worked primarily on editorials and commercial campaigns for the fashion industry and shooting the most stylish weddings for Ira Lippke Studios.
